The Situation It’s Built For

Some careers do not have a single broken situation to fix. The work is good, the years are passing, and the trajectory has quietly flattened. Not failing. Just compounding more slowly every year against people no more capable than you. The cost is invisible in any given week and enormous over a decade.

Six months is the engagement for the arc, not the incident. Often it is the professional two to four years from a level they can see and cannot yet reach. Sometimes it is someone who has just landed a bigger role and intends to compound it rather than survive it.

How It Works

The engagement runs two full passes of the work at two altitudes.

The first two months are Map and Read, at trajectory level. Not “this promotion” but the next five years. Which rooms you are trying to be in, what has to be true for your name to surface there, and the honest distance between that and the current read. The full stakeholder map of your decision room is built here: who decides, who influences, who blocks, and what each of them currently believes. The baseline assessment is scored across the same five areas used in The Repositioning, and the foundational build, CV, LinkedIn, positioning narrative, completes in this phase.

Months three and four are Reposition. The deep build of your positioning and narrative, the visibility system, and the specific commercial and communication moves your target rooms require. This phase typically includes one live situation, a promotion round, an external process, or a senior internal move, run together end-to-end as a proving ground. Every live contact is debriefed.

Months five and six are Reinforce. Repositioning decays without cadence, so the final phase installs the operating rhythm: visibility habits, stakeholder touchpoints, a quarterly self-review against the map. The engagement closes with a written eighteen-month trajectory document. The goal of month six is that you no longer need month seven.

Sessions are fortnightly across the full six months, sixty minutes each, with the opening session extended to ninety. Each has a defined agenda and a written summary. Between sessions, direct access by email for the specific moments that need it.

What The Engagement Includes

Twelve structured 1:1 session across six months, each with a written summary. A baseline readiness assessment in the first week, scored across five areas, repeated at the midpoint and the close. A full stakeholder map of your decision room: who decides, who influences, who blocks, and what each of them currently believes. A complete rebuild of how you are represented in writing — CV, LinkedIn, and the positioning narrative your work, conversations, and reputation should all be telling. One live situation run end-to-end together — a promotion round, an external process, or a senior internal move — debriefed after every live contact, including any offer negotiations that land. A visibility operating rhythm designed to keep the new read current after the engagement closes. A written eighteen-month trajectory document covering the map, the read, and the moves for the period after the work. A check-in sixty days after the engagement closes, to test what has held and what has decayed.
