Nom Coaching

Careers are decided in rooms you are not in.

NOM is a 1:1 coaching practice for mid-career professionals who are competent but overlooked. The work is reading the rooms you are not in, and changing what is being said about you when you are not there.

You have probably watched someone less capable than you move ahead. A promotion you should have had. A role that went to someone who interviews better than they work. A decision made about your career in a conversation you were not part of.

Careers do not turn on the work you do at your desk. They turn on what is said about you in the rooms you are not in — the five-minute discussion after the interview, the half-sentence a senior leader uses when your name comes up, the way you are described when someone asks who could step up.

Most people have no read on those rooms. They work hard on the visible part of the job and miss the part that decides things. They are reliable. They are not legible. Only one of tho segets you promoted, hired, or moved into the next chapter.

Who this is for

NOM is built for a particular kind of professional. Competent. Mid-career. Producing work that is genuinely good, and not being read the way that work should be read.

Some are in a role and stuck, watching less capable colleagues move ahead. Some are between roles and not landing the ones they should be landing. Some are trying to move into tech or enterprise sales and finding the doors heavier than expected.

What they share is the gap: the distance between what they are producing and what is being read about them by the people who decide.

And who it is not for: anyone looking for motivation, affirmation, or a script. There are good providers of all three. This is not one of them.

The work

The work is not motivational and it is not a script. It is the same work a senior commercial
operator does reading an enterprise deal: stakeholders, signals, narrative, and the specific gap between what you are producing and what is being read.

NOM stands for No Ordinary Mentor, No Ordinary Method. The name is a statement of
register. There is a particular kind of competent, undersold professional this practice is built for, and a particular way of working with them. Neither is generic.

How it works

NOM offers three commitment levels.

Level 01

A senior read on a specific situation. Ninety minutes, one conversation, a
written summary within 48 hours.

Level 02

Sustained work on a defined career arc: a promotion cycle, a job search, a transition.

Level 03

A full repositioning of your trajectory, for someone no longer willing to drift.

The caseload is deliberately small. The work is 1:1. Every engagement begins with a consultation.

Hard work is not the problem. Almost every stalled professional I meet is working hard. What they are missing is one or more of five things: a strategy beyond this year’s job, visibility with the people who decide, a mentor rather than just a manager, accountability that outlasts good intentions, and the commercial skill to make the case for themselves. None of the five is taught anywhere. NOM exists to close those gaps, one professional at a time.

If this page described your situation, you already know.

The consultation is thirty minutes, complimentary, and a working conversation rather than a pitch. Worst case, you leave with a sharper read on your own situation than you arrived with.
